  • Resumen
    • The article discusses what individuals can do, such as exercising and not smoking, to delay dementia. According to a report by a panel of scientists convened by the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) to examine how Alzheimer's disease could be prevented, there is no scientific evidence that anything exists that could reduce the risk of developing Alzheimer's. Topics include an overview of the response to the panel's conclusion by memory and cognition researchers, the biology of dementia, and the difficulties in acquiring better data on the cause and effect of dementia and Alzheimer's, such as issues of medical ethics in randomized controlled trials involving human subjects.
