  En el presente estudio se analiza el concepto del infierno y su relación con las maravillas a partir de los relatos de viajes medievales durante los siglos XII al XIV. En primer lugar, se estudia la noción del Otro mundo, dando cuenta de la percepción del infierno y el más allá por la sociedad medieval. Posteriormente, se profundiza en la imagen maravillosa del infierno, tanto en espacios como los valles, desiertos, islas y desfiladeros demoníacos. Finalmente, se revisa la noción de lo maravilloso en las criaturas diabólicas y monstruosas, y las ilusiones y encantamientos maléficos mencionados en los libros de viajes de la Edad Media.

  In this paper we analyze the concept of the hell and its relationship with the wonders through of the medieval travel writing during the XII-XIV centuries. First, we study the idea of the Other world, examining the perception of the hell and the beyond by the medieval society. Subsequently, we examine the wonderful image of the hell in spaces as valleys, deserts, islands and demonic gorges. Finally, we review the wonders in the evil and monstrous creatures, and illusions and evil spells mentioned in the travel books of the Middle Ages.
