    A lo largo de los siglos fue necesario emprender algunas obras de rehabilitación en el templo parroquial de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe de Teguise, Lanzarote, porque se encontraba muy deteriorado debido a los ataques piráticos, los incendios provocados y fortuitos, así como por la desidia y el paso del tiempo, que habían acabado arruinando las paredes y parte de la techumbre del edificio. Pero esas obras fueron insuficientes y en la segunda mitad del siglo XVII, concretamente en los años 1679, 1680, 1681 y 1682 se llevó a cabo el trabajo más importante de reconstrucción total del templo, bajo la administración del mayordomo y prohombre Luis Rodríguez Fleitas y con los artesanos y artistas más sobresalientes de las islas; quienes fueron contratados por las autoridades para emprender esta emblemática restauración.

    Throughout the centuries it was necessary to undertake some rehabilitation works in the parish church of Nuestra Señora Guadalupe de Teguise, Lanzarote, because it was very deteriorated due to the piratical attacks, the arson and incidental fires, as well as the negligence and the passage of time, which had ended up ruining the walls and part of the roof of the building. But these works were insufficient and in the second half of the seventeenth century, specifically in the years 1679, 1680, 1681 and 1682, the most important work of total reconstruction of the temple was carried out, under the administration of the butler and pro-man Luis Rodríguez Fleitas and with the most outstanding artisans and artists of the islands; who were hired by the authorities to undertake this emblematic restoration.
