El presente artículo revisa las investigaciones que analizan de qué manera son representadas las mujeres políticas en los medios de comunicación, cómo las noticias, entrevistas, crónicas y reportajes prolongan los estereotipos de género y de qué forma los denominados “roles trampa” impregnan la cobertura mediática que las féminas reciben.
El estudio se incrusta en el marco del frame-building y abre, además, un interrogante sobre si el hecho de que el periodista sea hombre o mujer condiciona en modo alguno dicha cobertura.
This article checks over the research studies that analyze how political females are represented in the mass media. It aims to study in what ways the news, interviews, chronicles and press reports extend gender stereotypes and how the “role traps” permeate the news coverage that females receive.
The work is embedded in the area of study of frame-building and it proposes a research question that enquires if the gender of the journalist, if the fact of being male or female, affects the news coverage in any way.
