    • The article discusses the reasons why people cannot liver forever, concepts about the end of life, and medical policy and research regarding death. The article indicates that life expectancy in the West has grown by about 25 years in the last 100. Advances in sanitation and medical care are credited for the change. The leading cause of death has become the aging process and diseases it leads to including cancer and Alzheimer's disease. That the aging process and life expectancy may continue to grow is said to be a recent revelation in science. The article provides information on cellular aspects of aging.
