A brief overview of a lab accident at the University of California, Los Angeles, which resulted in the death of a student, is presented. Topics include the discovery by the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA) of various life-threatening safely violations at academic labs, such as lack of proper training and protective clothing.
