  • Resumen
    • The article discusses the use of naturally occurring microbes and genetically engineered organisms to help clean up the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Topics include an overview of the use of naturally occurring microbes in the clean up of the Gulf oil spill, why a bioremediation technique using superbugs may not work in the Gulf of Mexico, such as the effect of water temperature on microbial metabolism and the complexity of microbial communities, and the environmental impact of using microbes, such as oxygen depletion in the water.
