  • "Remembrance of Things" Past is scattered with analogies from surgery, often linked to experiences with no immediate relationship to it except inasmuch as they relate, by their very intensity, to what cannot be withstood, or represented. These comparisons, furthermore, are often as not distorted or subtly impossible, which enacts a reflection upon surgery itself, ultimately a key to writing as the surgery of an artist both operating and operated on.
