  • Resumen
    • The authors focus on Dr. Benjamin Goldberg's 1929 article concerning public health concerns that were imposed by Mexican-Americans, which eventually led to the development of an epidemiological and systematic account of health data on Hispanics. They state that Goldberg's reference to health disparities by attributing them to inferior races was due to erroneous beliefs about racial immunity. They mention that Goldberg cited local epidemiological data highlighting racial health disparities in tuberculosis rates to lend scientific credibility to support his views. They comment that Goldberg's views are still evident in contemporary society in the debates concerning health care reform and health disparities.
