Resumen de Walt Whitman: "A Feather in My Wings".

  • The article presents an overview of work that poet Walt Whitman did over the course of his life to establish public health reform in the U.S. and to bring attention to several public health problems, including air pollution, cholera and poor quality drinking water which was found in Brooklyn, New York. A discussion of Whitman's career as a journalist with the "Brooklyn Daily Eagle" newspaper is presented. Increased interest in access to clean water which Whitman had when his brother Thomas Jefferson Whitman became a sanitary engineer is discussed. Whitman's interest in Washington, D.C. hospitals is examined.
