Resumen de Sede del Centro Documental de la Memoria Histórica en Salamanca

El edificio sede del Centro Documental de la Memoria Histórica, situado en el nº 2 de la Plaza de los Bandos en Salamanca, se ubica en el lado meridional del cuadrilátero de la misma, y está incluido dentro del catálogo de edificios protegidos a nivel estructural.
La rehabilitación y acondicionamiento de este edificio de 1932 que, si bien presenta un buen estado de conservación exterior, necesita una restructuración general en su interior para dar solución a su nuevo , exige prever sobrecargas que la actual estructura existente en el edificio no es capaz de resistir, sin realización de grandes refuerzos, parches, apeos, y demás obras añadidas que darían lugar a su “desaparición”, a la pérdida total de reconocimiento tipológico, sin dar suficientes garantías de resistencia en el tiempo.
Por ello se propone la sustitución estructural de una parte de dicha estructura, situándose la nueva en la posición original y conservación con refuerzo adecuado, de la crujía delantera, junto a la fachada principal, para evitar cualquier alteración o deterioro de dicha fachada principal, elemento fundamental del edificio.
TYPSA colabora en este Proyecto con los Arquitectos Fernando Pardo Calvo y Bernardo García Tapia, en el asesoramiento y proyecto de ejecución.
Las obras permitidas de acuerdo al grado de protección y según las Normas Urbanísticas del PGOU de Salamanca han consistido en:
Restauración estructural Mantenimiento de fachadas Repetición de cubiertas Mantenimiento de elementos originales El sistema de fijación de la fachada principal consistente en vigas metálicas aligeradas con uniones atornilladas, que une de manera rígida la fachada, los forjados y el muro posterior constituyendo un núcleo rígido capaz de soportar las cargas de viento sin necesidad de contrapesos, posibilitando un sistema de apeo sin ocupar la plaza.
La estructura nueva se proyecta metálica en pilares y correas unidas entre sí mediante una losa de compresión formada con forjado de chapa colaborante, con un espesor de 12cm. Las vigas son mixtas,consiguiendo con esta solución optimizar su canto al máximo.
Los pilares son también metálicos entre planta baja y cubierta, pero se ejecutarán de hormigón entre sótano y planta baja. La estabilidad horizontal se confía a los núcleos de escaleras y ascensores, mediante pantallas de hormigón “in situ” de espesor 0.25m.
En torno al tragaluz central, entre planta baja y planta primera se proyecta la utilización de los pilares de granito existentes en el edificio actual, previa comprobación que su resistencia a compresión es suficiente.

The Historical Memory Headquarters building is located at 2 Plaza de los Bandos, in the city of Salamanca. It stands in the southern end of the square, and belongs in the group of structurally protected buildings.
The building, which dates back to 1932, presents a good overall appearance and state of preservation in its outer facades, but requires a general restructuring of its interior structures. The project will foresee long term and lasting solutions for structural overloads that the current building cannot support without the need for serious reinforcements, shoring, or other undertakings that would lead to its disappearance, and physical recognition.
We thus propose replacing part of the current structure, putting the new one in place of the original, and preserving, with the adequate reinforcements, the frontal span that stands next to the main façade, thus avoiding any alteration, modification or deterioration of the latter, which is a key element of the building.
For this project TYPSA will collaborate with architects Fernando Pardo Calvo and Bernardo Garcia Tapia.
The level of work permitted given the buildings’ level of protection and the norms set by the PGOU of Salamanca consist of:
Structural restoration Maintenance of facades Roof same shape replacement Respecting all original elements of the building The system that rigidly fixes the main façade to the building floors and its rear wall will consist of lightened metal beams with screwed in connections. This will produce a solid and rigid core capable of sustaining wind charges without the need for counterweights. It will also allow proposing a shoring system without the need to occupy/invade part of the Bandos square.
The new structure will be metallic, with pillars and straps united by means of a compression slab made of steel deck slab 12cm thick. The beams have a mixed behaviour, due to the connection between concrete and steel. This solution will allow them to optimize their depth.
The pillars are also metallic between the lower floor and the building roof, but will be made of concrete between the basement floors and the level one. The horizontal stability is trusted to the staircase and elevator cores through on site concrete screens 0.25 m thick.
The building’s current granite pillars will be used around the central skylight, between the level and first floors. Their compression threshold will be tested first to ensure it is adequate.
