    Le transhumanisme a joué un rôle dans l’essor des nanotechnologies au début du xxie siècle. En amont, l’un des animateurs du mouvement transhumaniste, le physicien Eric Drexler, a été décisif dans le développement du projet nanotechnologique. En aval, le sociologue William Sims Bainbridge a été un acteur important de la mobilisation des capitaux publics et privés pour sa mise en œuvre. Quel rôle exact joue le transhumanisme dans ces projets industriels ? De quelles façons ? Comment une telle utopie s’articule-t-elle avec le capitalisme américain ?

    Transhumanism has played a role in the structuring and growth of nanotechnology at the beginning of the 21st century. Upstream, one of the figures of the transhumanist movement, physicist Eric Drexler, was decisive in the development of the nanotechnology project. Downstream, sociologist William Sims Bainbridge has been an important player in mobilizing public and private capital for its implementation. What role does transhumanism play in these industrial projects? In what ways? How does such utopia is linking with American capitalism?
