Resumen de Resistência negra pós-abolição no Norte do Brasil: a capoeira e o boi-bumbá

This article deals with two Afro-Brazilian cultural practices pursued in the post-abolition context: capoeira and boi-bumbá. They were the main instruments of mobilization and struggle of black individuals and collectives against the process of physical and cultural whitening in the North of Brazil. The first, in the dimension of black body defense. The second, as an element that articulates knowledge, identities and black playfulness in public spaces.
Black men and women were present in the streets and squares through these cultural practices that affirmed ancestral identities. The research was based on the perspective of historical ethnography, when a documentary diversity is considered, aiming at the comprehension of the field of study (COMAROFF, 2010; GEERTZ, 1989 and GINZBURG, 1990).
Thus, both the press of the period, as well as memorialist literary productions are gathered with the police documentation, in order to reach the social dimension of the black cultural practices of the period in question

Este artigo trata de duas práticas culturais afro-brasileiras perseguidas no contexto pós-abolição: a capoeira e o boi-bumbá. Elas foram os principais instrumentos de mobilização e luta de indivíduos e coletividades negras frente ao processo de embranquecimento físico e cultural no Norte do Brasil. A primeira em sua dimensão de defesa corporal negra. A segunda como elemento que articulava saberes, identidades e ludicidade afro em espaços públicos. Através delas, homens e mulheres negros se faziam presentes nas ruas e praças através de práticas culturais que afirmavam identidades ancestrais. Ao mesmo tempo, causavam desconforto a uma sociedade que queria ser reconhecida como herdeira direta do mundo ocidental. Palavras-chave: Abolição; Capoeira; Boi-bumbá; Pará
