  • The article discusses research by scientist Benhur Lee who isolated a compound named LJ001 later shown in biosafety laboratory studies to inhibit many deadly viruses including whole Nipah, Ebola, and HIV. Such successes reportedly have been realized in testing of the compound with 20 viruses. Further research is said to have shown that the compound is effective only in treating viruses with lipid envelopes.
