  • The article discusses a report in the February 4, 2010 issue of "Nature" regarding the creation of a dispersal model that supports a theory for the origin of Madagascar's animals. According to the author, how the land mammals on the island of Madagascar got there has been an enduring scientific mystery. Topics include geologic evidence to support the theory that the animals drifted to the island on vast rafts of vegetation and a model that reconstructs ancient dispersal routes.
