  • The article examines how appropriate information and communications technology can help save lives when combined with community involvement. Topics include a discussion on how Information technology empowers complex group processes, the breakthroughs happening in low income settings, and the author's experience of seeing how community health workers (CHWs) in Africa use mobile telephones to coordinate teams of midwives, ambulance drivers, and receiving hospitals to assist pregnant women.
