The article discusses neglected tropical diseases (NTDs). According to the author, the poorest people suffer from chronic illness making it difficult for them to escape poverty. An example is given of the Burkina Faso program in West Africa which treats millions of children suffering from preventable diseases such as parasitic cysticercosis.
