  • The article discusses the quest by astronomers to find Earth-like planets. According to the author, oxygen (O) is the dominate element in the solar system. Terrestrial planets are composed of silicate materials, which are rich in oxygen. An overview of a study showing in detail how carbon (C) became a minor constituent in the solar system and what would have happened had the C-O balance been reversed.
