  Our proposal questions, through socio-anthropological and empirical reflection, the public management of "the death of the emigrant" in the two communities of belonging to the emigre: the country of immigration (Saint-Étienne) and the village of origin (Tounef in Kabylia). The interest of our reflection on the death of the emigre is to grasp the complexity of the treatment reserved socially and ritually to the death of the emigre by insisting on the conditions of his repatriation, the organization and the ritual of his burial and , And finally the construction of his grave in the family or village cemetery. The history of the repatriation of the emigrants from Saint-Étienne, from 1968 to 2012, will also lead us to "make" among other things the history of the "square of émigrés" which formed involuntarily in the cemetery of the village of Tounef and which Reveals a physical trace of this eternal return of the absent. It will be seen that "the death of the absent" and his repatriation has shaken, not to say, overturned and tested all the ritual device linked to death and burial in Kabylia.

  Notre proposition s’interroge, à travers une réflexion socioanthropologique et empirique, sur la gestion publique de « la mort de l’émigré » dans ses deux communautés d’appartenance : la ville d’immigration (Saint-Étienne) et le village d’origine (Tounef en Kabylie). L’intérêt de notre réflexion sur la mort de l’émigré est de saisir la complexité du traitement réservé socialement et rituellement à la mort de l’émigré en insistant sur les conditions de son rapatriement, l’organisation et le rituel de son enterrement et, enfin, la construction de sa tombe dans le cimetière familial ou villageois. L’histoire de rapatriement des émigrés de Saint-Étienne, depuis 1968 à 2012, nous mènera aussi à « faire » entre autres, l’histoire du « carré d’émigrés » qui s’est formé involontairement au cimetière du village de Tounef et qui révèle une trace physique de « ce retour éternel de l’absent ». On verra que la mort de l’absent et son rapatriement ont bousculé pour ne pas dire bouleversé et mis à l’épreuve tout le dispositif rituel lié à la mort et à l’enterrement en Kabylie.
