Resumen de Alteraciones oculares en el curso del SIDA: casuística Balear

  Se presentan las alteraciones oculares encontradas en 51 pacientes afectados con un Síndrome de Inmunodeficiencia Adquirida, que han sido estudiados en nuestro Servicio durante los años 1988 y 1989. Se encontraron alteraciones oculares en 19 pacientes (37,2%), siendo la más frecuente la Retinopatía relacionada al SIDA (10 casos) y la retinitis por citomegalovirus (en 4 pacientes). Se discute la importancia de los exudados algodonosos y las hemorragias retinianas como signo de la rotura de la barrera hematoretiniana que favorece la implantación de la infección por los citomegalovirus en la retina.

  We present the ocular alterations found in 51 patients affected of AIOS, who have been studied in our service during the years 1988 and 1989. We found ocular alterations in 19 patients, (37,2%), being the most frequent the retinopathy related to AIOS (10 cases) and the retinitis by cytomegalovirus (in 14 patients).

  We discuss the importance of the cottony exudates and the retinian hemorrhages as a sign of the breaking of the hemato-retinian barrier which favors the implantation of the infection by cytomegalovirus in the retina.
