The evolution of the intraocular pressure (I.O.P.) has been studied in 90 eyes (56 myopic and 34 no myopic) within the six months after extracapsular surgery of cataract without intraocular implantation. Before surgery, all the eyes included in the study showed normal 1.0.P. values (between 8-22 mmHg.). In both groups the eyes were divided into three subgroups in order to preoperative tensional values (8-12; 13-17; and 18-22 mmHg.). The preoperative and postoperative values of 1.0.P. were statistically compared. The results showed a significative decrease of the I.O.P.
both in myopic and no myopic, being more pronounced after the third month of the postoperative period and in eyes which had a presurgical tension between 18-22 mmHg.
