Estrabismos acomodativos: características y pronósticos sensorial

    Se han revisado 95 niños con estrabismo acomodativo y un seguimiento mínimo de 3 años. El 64,21% presentaban ambliopía. Tan sólo el 14,74% presentaban una visión binocular normal. El 56,79% de los pacientes no lograron recuperar la visión binocular a pesar del tratamiento. Se compararon los pacientes que recuperaron la visión binocular con los que no lo hicieron, hallándose diferencias significativas en la edad de comienzo de la desviación, astigmatismo, ángulos de desviación de lejos y cerca, con sin corrección, variabilidad del ángulo, correspondencia retiniana y presencia de ambliopía medias o profundas. La visión binocular normal demostró ser importante en el control de la desviación sin corrección.

    Ninety five patients with accommodative strabismus and a minimum follow-up of three years have been reviewed. The incidence of amblyopia was 64.21 %. Only 14.74% had normal binocular vision. 56.79% of the patients did not recover their binocularity in despite of the treatment. Patients that recovered their binocular vision were compared to those that did not achieve it. Significant differences were found in the age of onset of the deviation, astigatism, measurement of the angle of deviation at near and distance with and without correction, variability of the deviation, retinal correspondence and rate of medium and high amblyopias. The presence normal binocular vision is an important factor in the control of the deviation without glasses.
