Resumen de Los fondos europeos: incidencia en el desarrollo sostenible y el medio ambiente urbano de la Costa del Sol Occidental

Desde la creación de la UE y la sucesiva incorporación de nuevos miembros, se ha puesto de manifiesto la existencia de diferencias económicas y territoriales entre regiones europeas, que han empujado a la UE a tener que impulsar una política activa de cohesión económica, territorial y social, marcada por los principios de desarrollo sostenible, integrado e inteligente, y con un fuerte componente de respeto y protección del medio ambiente. En dicha tarea, los fondos estructurales de inversión europeos (EIE) ayudan a disminuir las desigualdades territoriales y mejorar las condiciones de vida de los ciudadanos europeos, creando para ello el fondo europeo de desarrollo regional, el fondo social europeo, el fondo de cohesión, el fondo europeo marítimo y de pesca y el fondo europeo agrícola de desarrollo rural. En dicho contexto, la UE en estrecha colaboración con los gobiernos estatales, regionales y locales, impulsa convocatorias periódicas con gran repercusión en el medio ambiente urbano, a través de las “estrategias DUSI” (estrategias de desarrollo urbano sostenible e integrado), “acciones urbanas innovadoras”, “URBACT” y “proyectos singulares EBC” (economía baja en carbono), desarrolladas todas ellas bajo el paraguas principal de los fondos FEDER.

Since the creation of the EU and the successive incorporation of new members, it has become evident of the existence of economic and territorial differences between European regions. This has urged the EU to have to promote an active policy of economic, territorial and social cohesion, highlighting the principles of sustainable development, integrated and forward thinking and with a strong component of respect and protection of the environment. In this undertaking, the European structural and investment funds (EIE) help to reduce territorial inequalities and improve the living conditions of European citizens, creating for its benefit, the European regional development fund, the European social fund, the cohesion fund, the European maritime and fisheries fund and the European agricultural fund for rural development. In this context, the EU, in close collaboration with state, regional and local governments, encourages periodic meetings with a positive outcome on the urban environment, through the "DUSI strategies" (strategies for sustainable and integrated urban development), "innovative urban action ", "URBACT" and "singular projects EBC "(low carbon economy), all developed under the umbrella of the ERDF funds.
