Resumen de Anima, animus, mens: Una reflexión semiótica acerca de la espiritualidad a partir del pensamiento materialista

El objetivo de este breve ensayo es estudiar la relación semántica que se establece entre espíritu y materia en el caso del empleo de las nociones de alma, ánimo y mente en contextos discursivos de tendencia «materialista» («materialista» entre comillas, pues la «materia» que conformaría el mundo, y que excluiría la existencia de todo tipo de «substancia espiritual», está lejos de encontrar una interpretación unitaria); se han elegido dos ámbitos de análisis distintos: los repertorios lexicográficos en español y algunos textos de referencia de la tradición filosófico-literaria «materialista» occidental: el De anima de Aristóteles (IV a. C.), el De rerum natura de Tito Lucrecio Caro (I a. C.) y la Ethica ordine geometrico demonstrata de Baruch Spinoza (1677).

The goal of this short essay is to study the semantic relation that is established between spirit and matter in the case of use of the notions of anima, animus and mens in «materialistic» discursive contexts («materialistic» in quotes because the «matter» that forms the world and excludes the existence of any kinds of «spiritual substance» is far from finding a unitary interpretation); we have chosen two different areas of analysis: the lexicographical repertoires in Spanish and some reference texts of the Western «materialistic» philosophical-literary tradition: De anima, by Aristotle (IV BC), De rerum natura, by Titus Lucretius Carus (I BC), and Ethica ordine geometrico demonstrata, by Baruch Spinoza (1677).
