La reforma constitucional pertenece a esa clase de materias que, por la trascendencia que revisten en la vida de cualquier Estado democrático, ocupan un lugar preeminente entre los objetos de estudio de la doctrina constitucionalista.
En la historia reciente de nuestro país, además, la reforma constituye un eje en torno al cual gira, no sólo la discusión jurídica, sino también el discurso programático y las relaciones entre las distintas fuerzas políticas.
Lo que resulta claro es que un asunto de tal relevancia debe ser abordado con suficiente profundidad y desde el necesario espíritu crítico. Un tratamiento superficial o partidista supondría una irresponsable muestra de frivolidad que repercutiría muy negativamente en una opinión pública y un debate político que presentan síntomas preocupantes de devaluación y pobreza argumental.
El presente trabajo esboza una panorámica de la reforma constitucional en España, desde su regulación constitucional hasta las reformas proyectadas para nuestra norma fundamental, tanto las que salieron adelante como las que fracasaron o aún están meramente propuestas como posibilidad de mejora o aggiornamento de nuestra Constitución

The constitutional reform belongs to that kind of subjects that, because of the transcendence that they have in the life of any democratic State, occupy a pre-eminent place among the objects of study of the constitutionalist doctrine.
In the recent history of our country, in addition, the reform constitutes an axis around which revolves, not only the legal discussion, but also the programmatic discourse and the relations between the different political forces.
What is obvious is that an issue of such relevance must be approached with sufficient depth and from the necessary critical spirit. A superficial or partisan treatment would suppose an irresponsible sample of frivolity that would repel very negatively in a public opinion and a political debate that present worrisome symptoms of devaluation and argument poverty.
This work outlines an overview of the constitutional reform in Spain, from its constitutional regulation to the reforms planned for our fundamental norm, both those that went ahead as those that failed or are still merely proposed as a possibility of improvement or aggiornamento of our Constitution.
