Resumen de La frontera de Navarra durante el reinado de Carlos II. La acción virreinal y el problema de la defensa

En este trabajo nos hemos interesado por las reacciones de la Monarquía Hispánica ante las demandas defensivas elaboradas por los virreyes de Navarra durante el reinado de Carlos II basándonos en un análisis exhaustivo de la documentación depositada en el Archivo General de Simancas, que será contrastado con las aportaciones de la moderna historiografía. Las principales conclusiones serían que la Monarquía apenas si invirtió los caudales necesarios para la mejora de las fortificaciones de Pamplona, ni tampoco mantuvo adecuadamente las tropas que guardaban aquella frontera, una tarea que recayó, más bien, en los bolsillos de los propios navarros.

In this work we have been interested in the reactions of the Spanish Monarchy to the defensive demands elaborated by the viceroys of Navarre during the reign of Charles II on the basis of an exhaustive analysis of the documentation deposited in the Archivo General de Simancas and the modern historiography, which will be contrasted. The main conclusions would be that, while the kingdom might appear to be a favoured territory in some respects, the truth is that the Monarchy barely reversed the appropriate flows for the improvement of the Fortifications of Pamplona, nor did he adequately maintain the troops that kept that frontier, a task that fell, rather, on the economy of territory.

Lan honetan, ardatz izan ditugu monarkia hispanikoak izandako erreakzioak, Nafarroako erregeordeek Karlos II.aren erregealdian egindako defentsa eskaeren aurrean. Horretarako, zehatz-mehatz aztertu dugu Simancasko Artxibategi Orokorreko dokumentazioa, eta hori historiografia modernoaren ekarpenekin alderatuko dugu. Ondorio nagusiak izanen lirateke monarkiak ez zuela Iruñeko gotorlekuak hobetzeko behar beste diru inbertitu, eta ez zituela behar bezala mantendu muga hura zaintzen zuten tropak. Horretarako dirua nafarrek jartzen zuten, beren poltsikoetatik.
