    La Fobia social/Trastorno de ansiedad social se delimita como un miedo intenso y duradero caracterizado por las respuestas de escape/evitación de/ante situaciones sociales, la elevada interferencia en el desarrollo de la actividad cotidiana y el malestar clínicamente significativo. Se trata de un problema de salud pública que por su prevalencia se sitúa tras la depresión mayor y la dependencia del consumo de alcohol. El objetivo del presente trabajo es presentar y discutir los resultados de 14 años de investigación y aplicación del Programa IAFS, en la población infanto-juvenil con fobia social generalizada, en el contexto de un Plan de Detección e Intervención Temprana.

    Social phobia or social anxiety disorder is defined as an intense and lasting fear of one or more social situations in which the person is exposed to being observed by others and experiences fear of doing something or behaving in a humiliating or embarrassing way. It is distinguished from other disorders by the fear and avoidance of interpersonal situations and a high level of interference in subjects’ daily lives. It is a serious public health problem and its prevalence is situated only after major depression and dependency on alcohol consumption. The object of this paper is to present and discuss the results of 14 years of research and implementation of the IAFS Program, in the child and adolescent population within the context of a community plan (in schools) for the early detection and intervention of children and adolescents with generalized social phobia.
