The article reflects upon problems related to the Internet of Things which connects everyday household objects to the Internet. Particular focus is given to how these items including baby monitors, DVRs, speakers and refrigerators can be inflected by malware. Additional topics discussed include insights on the topic from Brian Krebs, an Internet security investigative journalist, and a malicious program dubbed Mirai, authored by U.S. college students.
