  OBJETIVO: Caracterizar o perfil de participantes de um grupo de automutilação em redes sociais virtuais. MÉTODOS: Realizada pesquisa exploratória, retrospectiva, com abordagem quantitativa. Na análise descritiva foi calculada a frequência absoluta e relativa. Para o cálculo da significância estatística, foi utilizado o teste Qui-quadrado de Pearson. RESULTADOS: houve maior frequência do sexo feminino e status de relacionamento solteiro. Entre as regiões do Brasil foi observada maior frequência no Sudeste, e no Estado de São Paulo, que possui maior número de participantes. Os membros do grupo de automutilação são estudantes com maior frequencia em instituições públicas (fundamental e médio). CONCLUSÕES: Identificou-se a caracterização dos participantes em grupos de automutilação na rede social virtual e suas representações identitárias.

  AIM:to characterize the profile of the participants of a self-mutilation group in Virtual Social Networks. METHODS:An exploratory, retrospective and descriptive study was carried out with a quantitative approach. For the descriptive analysis, absolute and relative frequency calculations were performed. Pearson's chi-square test was used to calculate statistical significance. RESULTS:there was a higher frequency of female gender and single relationship status. Among the Brazilian Regions, there was a higher frequency in the Southeast region, with the State of São Paulo having the highest number of participants. The self-mutilation group members are students, with more frequent school ties in public institutions (elementary and high school). CONCLUSIONS:Identifying the characterization of the participants of self-mutilation groups in Virtual Social Network and their identity representations.
