  • The article presents updates on politics and special education in Great Britain as of June 2006. The discussion paper "Changing Britain for Good," was launched in Westminster Central Hall on January 30. The law dealing with Special Education in Northern Ireland is contained in the Education Order 1996 as amended by the Special Educational Needs and Disability Order 2005. A plan by the Healthcare Commission in England to improve services for people with learning disabilities was launched in November 2005.
