  • If the low rates of cancer seen in the richer portion of UK society were replicated across the nation, 19,200 fewer people would die every year. It is a shocking statistic, and one that isn't restricted to cancer: across almost every measure of health, those with less money get more disease. However, it is less clear that politicians fully appreciate the impact that income and wealth inequalities have on these health disparities.
