Resumen de La simetría virreinal de príncipe y magistrados en la Monarquía de los Austrias: un modelo y sus variantes

En al amplio campo de la Monarquía y sus virreyes, actualmente ocupa un espacio muy amplio el dedicado a las cortes virreinales. Si existen y tienen plena solidez es porque representan en el reino correspondiente a la corte real, aquella en la que reside el rey con sus consejos. Estos consejos, a su vez, son la última instancia a la que se puede recurrir desde los tribunales de los reinos, presididos por los virreyes respectivos. De este modo se dibuja una cierta simetría dado que la dualidad central para la toma de decisiones (rey-consejos supremos) tiene un claro paralelismo con la dualidad virreyes-audiencias y con los magistrados y juristas que ejercieron la jurisdicción, tanto de justicia como de gobierno, en las cortes virreinales. Se defiende en este trabajo la idea de que de ese modo se asentó un modelo, que tuvo sus variantes por la necesaria adaptación a cada caso.

This article deals with a basic question in the historiography of the structure of the Spanish Monarchy during the 16th and 17th centuries: the viceroyalties. In this field of research the space dedicated to the courts of the viceroys has nowadays become solidly mature. These courts worked in parallel with the royal central court, where the king acted together with the highest courts of the kingdoms. They were constantly connected with the parallel courts and governors that acted in a network extended among the territories of the Monarchy. In this way, a certain symmetry can be discerned where the central dual body (the king and his supreme courts or territorial “Consejos”) was clearly parallel to the corresponding pairs formed by the viceroys and their high courts or Audiencias. The general model of the connection between central court and the viceroyalties had different versions, since it was necessary to adapt it to different cases.
