Resumen de Hogares rurales y estrategias familiares de vida en México

  Esta investigación tiene como objetivo principal describir y comparar los ingresos y gastos, de los hogares rurales mexicanos y su fuente de obtención en los años 2002 y 2014. Para ello se construyó con la Encuesta Nacional de Ingresos y Gastos de los Hogares (ENIGH) una tipología de hogares a partir de los ingresos derivados de los negocios. Se encontró que los hogares con ingresos del sector agropecuario disminuyeron; que el número de miembros en el hogar es un recurso para la obtención de ganancias; que se incrementó la multiactividad, y que, en términos reales, no hubo mejoras en el poder adquisitivo. La principal fuente de ingreso de los hogares rurales es el trabajo, aunque un 32% no recibe ingresos por esa vía. Las familias gastan principalmente en alimentación, vestido y vivienda.Los hogares con mayor vocación campesina tienen un ingreso menor, dependen más de las remesas, de apoyos gubernamentales y del autoconsumo, y recurren a la diversificación de sus ingresos como estrategia familiar de sobrevivencia.

  The main objective of this paper is to describe and compare income levels, sources of income, and expenses of rural households in Mexico from 2002 to 2014. Based on the enigh, a typology of households was constructed based on income derived from businesses. It was found that the number of households with income from the agricultural sector decreased over this period; the number of members of a household was related to source of income;

  multiactivity has increased – a combination of activities and sources of income –; and there was a real loss of purchasing power. The main source of household income came from employment, although 25% of the population was unemployed Families mainly spent money on food, clothing and housing. Households with greater dependency on agricultural activity had less income, and depended more on remittances, government support and self-consumption.

  These families resorted to the diversification of income as a family strategy for survival.
