Política nacional de residuos sólidos: o cenário brasileiro em números

    This study aims at presenting statistical data about the implementation of the National Solid Waste Policy (PNRS) in Brazil, with an approach based on the following indicators: volume of solid waste generated, final destination spaces, selective collection and reverse logistics. The figures collected correspond to the following sources: National Sanitation Information System (SNIS), National Survey of Basic Sanitation (PNSB), Research of Basic Municipal Information (MUNIC), Ministry of Environment and Brazilian Association of Public Cleaning and Waste Companies Specials (ABRELPE). The objective of the study is to verify, quantitatively, how has the implementation of important indicators related to PNRS been occurring. Law No. 12,305 / 2010, which instituted the National Solid Waste Policy, has established a series of guidelines for municipalities, so that they qualify waste management and promote the practice of sustainable actions. From this perspective, the paper presents the following research problem: What are the statistical data about the implementation of PNRS in Brazil? The methodology used involved an exploratory study, with the qualitative approach. The results showed a slight retraction in the amount of solid waste generated in the country, an inexpressive advance in the dump extinction, and positive results in the implementation of practices of selective collection and reverse logistics

    Este estudo visa a apresentar dados estatísticos acerca da implementação da Política Nacional de Resíduos Sólidos (PNRS) no Brasil, abordando os seguintes indicadores: volume de resíduos sólidos gerados, espaços de destinação final, coleta seletiva e logística reversa. Os dados levantados correspondem às seguintes fontes: Sistema Nacional de Informações sobre Saneamento (SNIS), Pesquisa Nacional de Saneamento Básico (PNSB), Pesquisa de Informações Básicas Municipais (MUNIC), Ministério do Meio Ambiente e Associação Brasileira das Empresas de Limpeza Pública e Resíduos Especiais (ABRELPE). O objetivo do estudo é verificar, quantitativamente, como vem ocorrendo a implementação de indicadores importantes relacionados à PNRS. A lei nº 12.305/2010, que instituiu a Política Nacional de Resíduos Sólidos, estabeleceu uma série de diretrizes aos municípios para que qualifiquem a gestão de resíduos e impulsionem a prática de ações sustentáveis. Nessa perspectiva, o trabalho apresenta o seguinte problema de pesquisa: quais são os dados estatísticos acerca da implementação da PNRS no Brasil? A metodologia empregada envolveu um estudo exploratório, com a abordagem qualitativa. Os resultados demonstraram uma discreta retração na quantidade de resíduos sólidos gerados no país, um avanço inexpressivo na extinção de lixões e resultados positivos na implementação de práticas de coleta seletiva e de logística reversa.
