The article discusses the development of several radio telescope arrays, such as the Combined Array for Research in Millimeter-Wave Astronomy (CARMA), to form a globe-spanning network of observatories. The purpose of the observatories is to gather data on the event horizon of Sagittarius A* (Sgr A*) at the center of the Milky Way galaxy. A diagram is presented which explains how an accretion disk around Sgr A* appears in relation to its orientation.
