  • The article examines the link between obesity, inflammation, and type 2 diabetes, which is a condition affecting millions of Americans. According to several studies, type 2 diabetes and obesity are inextricably linked through a series of actions in inflammatory immune cells. Topics include a historical overview of the discovery of overactive immune responses and type 2 diabetes, the role of the cytokine TNF-alpha, and how insulin resistance causes inflammation.
