  • The article discusses how the global swine flu pandemic is teaching scientists valuable lessons about the pandemics of the past, such as that of the 1918 influenza outbreak. When scientists analyzed H1N1 immunization data they discovered that the virus was not new to the human immune system. Topics include statistics regarding the age groups most affected by the virus and how a strong antibody immune response in older people may be a sign that their bodies recognized the H1N1 virus.
