¿Habrá alguna disposición del sujeto que sin ser servidumbre sea servicio? ¿Que sin ser evitación busque el encuentro, y que sin renunciar al conflicto persiga la concordia? ¿Que sin ser perfecta procure un alto grado de civismo; y aunque esté fundada en la conminación del otro, lo invista de autonomía y responsabilidad? De haberla, sería una virtud política con nombre de amistad debida; y su sujeto sería el sujeto democrático en su permanente in fieri.

Would it be possible a human aptitude which means service without implying servitude? A human aptitude which looks for bonds without falling in avoidance or which pursues agreement without rejecting the conflict? A human aptitude that without being perfect tries to achieve a high degree of civility and which despite been well founded under the other’s judgement provides the subject with full autonomy? If all that would be possible, it would be a politic virtue which could be called the duty of friendship, and so its bearer would be a democratic subject.
