El artículo es un análisis del Discurso sobre la Edad de Oro que Don Quijote pronuncia en el capítulo I-11 de la novela cervantina. Se reflexiona sobre el sentido de este viejo tópico de la edad dorada y se establece su relación con la tradición humanística a la que pertenece. Se valora asimismo su comparecencia en otros autores importantes de la época de Cervantes y su conveniencia con la singular idiosincrasia del autor del Quijote. Se analiza finalmente la fina e irónica operatividad que adquiere este Discurso dentro del juego rico y complejo de la novela cervantina.

The article is a commentary on the speech of the Golden Age pronounced by Don Quixote in chapter I-11 of Cervantes' novel. The work begins by analyzing the meaning of this old topic of the Golden Age and its relationship with the humanistic tradition to which it belongs. The presence of this common place in other major authors of the time of Cervantes and its convenience with the unique mentality of the author of Don Quixote is valued below. Finally the work examines the ironic operation of the speech within the rich and complex game of Cervantes' novel.
