  • The article discusses a pilot program being launched by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to test multiband radios which are designed to let first responders such as firefighters, rescue workers, and police officers communicate across various radio frequencies. Topics include an overview of how the radios of public safety agencies operate, the development of multiband radios, and the delays in the U.S. switch from the broadband spectrum to digital.
