  • The article discusses the origin of computing and the beginning of the information age which began with the realization that the power of the mind could be emulated by machines. Topics include an in-depth historical analysis of computing and computation devices, such as the creation by British mathematician Charles Babbage of the first mechanical device that could organize calculations, and the invention of the analog, digital, and stored-program computers.
