  • The article discusses how the quantum mechanics of photosynthesis could yield better solar cells. Photosynthetic organisms use light-capturing mechanisms in their cells which they convert to energy and then send to specialized molecules for chemical conversion. Topics include the role quantum mechanics plays in shuttling energy to cellular reaction centers and an overview of research by chemist Mohan Sarovar and colleagues examining quantum mechanics in photosynthetic bacteria.
