Dialnet

Resumen de Deconstructive Constructivist.

Irving Sandler

  • The article profiles artist Don Gummer. Gummer started working after graduating from Yale School of Art. Initially, he created installations that would induce viewers to exercise their memory in experiencing a work. As Gummer's installations became increasingly complex, the incremental process of exploration called for a dialogue with the work, and intensified the viewer's experience of space and time. Gummer's forms evoke motion, like the lines of force in Futurist paintings. The sense of movement is enhanced when the slatted forms suggest climbing, descending, doubling back or twisting.
