  • The article presents the author's casual reflections on several subjects, including the religious nature of "secular" art and ritual in U.S. society in the 21st century, the nature of U.S. democracy as portrayed in the media, and the importance of civility. Particular discussion is given to popular media and art icons who promoted "Edenic" visions of hospitality and social etiquette.
