    The present work consists in a comparison of the main features of two styles/genres of popular music: the Mexican corrido and the Irish traditional music, having as objective to study the social insertion of such genres in the social contexts in where they originated, what explains, in part, their production, and trying to answer if such songs can be faced as historical/literary documents, as memory-driven production or both things.

    O presente trabalho consiste numa comparação das principais características de dois estilos/gêneros de música popular: o corrido mexicano e a música tradicional irlandesa, tendo como objetivo estudar a inserção social de tais gêneros nos contextos nos quais estes se originaram, o que explica, em parte, sua produção.
