Interacionismo simbólico: raizes, críticas e perspectivas atuais

    This article addresses Symbolic Interactionism through a long time perspective, beginning with its pragmatic origins, passing by the critics it received until the revitalization of the tradition. The thread that sews the analysis comes from a more problematized look at the pragmatic tradition itself, claiming that Blumer's appropriation of it has privileged its nominalistic and utilitarian character. Afterward, I relate the criticism that Symbolic Interactionism has received in the 1960's and 1970's with its skewed origin, as the prevalence of the realistic line could have taken the movement to different directions. Finally, I present evidence of the revitalization of the tradition, which is due to the maturation of its research lines and a broader dialogue with other disciplines. Moreover, the consideration given to the criticism it received allowed the perspective to overcome some of the pragmatic assumptions, allowing necessary articulations with structural questions.

    Este artigo analisa o interacionismo simbólico sob uma perspectiva de longo prazo, partindo de suas origens pragmáticas, passando pelas críticas que recebeu até suas perspectivas atuais, com a revitalização da tradição. O fio que costura a análise vem do próprio pragmatismo e de uma leitura mais problematizada feita dessa origem. Esboçado esse plano geral, devo mencionar que a intenção não é tratar nenhum autor em especial, (com a exceção de Blumer na primeira parte, afinal, é unânime a sua paternidade no interacionismo). O propósito foi observar o movimento de uma perspectiva mais ampla, tanto de tempo quanto de produção, vinculando, sempre que possível, com o contexto histórico e com o campo da sociologia norte americana, em especial com o funcionalismo parsoniano. Sempre que possível, privilegiei textos que não existem em português,  como forma de ir um pouco além das discussões mais conhecidas que temos sobre o interacionismo.
