    Os cuidados relativos à alma e aos corpos foram tema de uma ampla literatura entre os séculos XVI e XVIII. Tratados de medicina e teologia e outros impressos procuravam instruir sobre a melhor forma de conservar a saúde do corpo e a salvação da alma. A partir dos impressos publicados no século XVIII, este artigo busca problematizar as relações entre a medicina e a religião no contexto luso-brasileiro, mostrando como esses dois campos foram marcados por proximidades, mas também por tensões no que diz respeito aos cuidados relativos aos corpos e aos sentidos que a doença assumia

    The care of soul and bodies was the subject of a wide literature between the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries. Treaties of medicine and theology and other printed matter sought to instruct about the best way of preserving the health of the body and the salvation of the soul. From the printed articles published in the eighteenth century, this article seeks to problematize the relation between medicine and religion in the Portuguese-Brazilian context, showing how these two fields were marked by closeness, but also by tensions regarding body care And the senses that the disease assumed.
