Analysis of brief cognitive behavioral therapy for panic disorder

    • The aim of this study was to determine if a modification made to traditional treatments for panic disorder (PD) was effective in adjusting to the cultural and economic characteristics of the patients in the southern Colombian Andes. The Quasi-experimental model was used a model with measurements taken before treatment, after the treatment and follow-up after 1 and 2 years, the sample was composed of 82 people, 47 women and 35 men the sample was constituted by 82 people, 47 women and 35 men, with an average age of 34 and 29 years respectively. The results showed that there was a reduction of clinical symptoms after treatment PD (d> 0.8), the significance in all cases was p <0.001, changes were maintained throughout the follow up period. In conclusion it is possible to approach the treatment to the socio-cultural characteristics of the patients to whom it is applied and that the number of sessions could be reduced, maintaining the effectiveness of the treatment.
