La historiografia de l’art medieval hispànic havia tendit a considerar que no hi havia hagut producció local de tapissos figurats a la península Ibèrica. Aquest article pretén demostrar que aquesta producció sí que va existir. En una primera part s’aporten un seguit de documents inèdits sobre l’activitat de Joan Falsison, un mestre francès que va instal·lar el seu obrador a Barcelona i a Tortosa a mitjan segle xv. En la segona, es proposa la possibilitat de relacionar un tapís conservat a Nova York, habitualment vinculat amb els Països Baixos del Sud, amb un altre obrador establert a Catalunya.

The historiography of medieval Hispanic art has tended to consider that there had been no local production of figured tapestries on the Iberian Peninsula. This article aims to demonstrate that this production did exist. In the first part, a series of unpublished documents on the activity of John Falsison, a French master who set up workshops in Barcelona and Tortosa in the middle of the fifteenth century, are commented upon. The second part proposes the possible relationship of a relating a tapestry preserved in New York, usually linked with the South Netherlands, with another workshop established in Catalonia.
