Metalinguagem dos professores e dos alunos em turmas heterogêneas de português língua estrangeira

    In this article we present the result of an ethnographic research which – through classroom observations and informal conversations – aims to describe and analyze the use of metalanguage by teachers and students from heterogeneous (from a linguistic and cultural point of view) Portuguese Foreign Language (PFL) classes. Our interest is to understand to what extent this use impacts the PFL teaching / learning process. The results show, on the one hand, that metalanguage is ubiquitous both in the transmission of language knowledge and in the speeches of teachers and students and, on the other hand, that its proper use can optimize the teaching / learning process.

    Apresentamos neste artigo o resultado de uma pesquisa de cunho etnográfico que – através de observações em sala de aula e conversas informais – busca descrever e analisar o uso da metalinguagem por professores e alunos de turmas heterogêneas (do ponto de vista linguístico e cultural) de Português Língua Estrangeira (PLE). Nosso interesse é compreender em que medida este uso impacta o processo de ensino/aprendizagem do PLE. Os resultados obtidos mostram, por um lado, que a metalinguagem é onipresente tanto na transmissão dos saberes linguageiros, quanto nos discursos dos professores e dos alunos e, por outro lado, que sua utilização adequada pode otimizar o processo de ensino/aprendizagem.
